Who needs a website? If you need a business card, you need a website. What does it cost? I build simple, clean, easy to use and maintain sites. Most small businesses need only 3-5 pages. Most sites cost between $350 and $500 plus hosting fees (annual). What is "hosting" and why does it cost extra? Think of a website like a family video. You can shoot a video on your own (the website), but no one will see it except for people you show it to. If you wanted people around the world to see it, you would need a television network (the host) to "broadcast" your video. (Pre-utube, that is!) With websites, the file that holds all the parts of your website sits on a computer. To get it out on the internet, you have to pay a company to "host" your site to "broadcast" it out to the world. It is usually a monthly fee paid 12 months at a time. Where should I host my site? We strongly recommend HostMonster.com because their rates are very low and the 24-7 technical support is excellent.
They allow you a ton of space and unlimited sub-domains, i.e., I pay only $5.95 a month to host ALL the following domains. That's $5.95 a month TOTAL -- not each! The only other cost you should expect is about $10 a year to register your domain name (your URL).
